10 GHz socket for 0.65-mm pitch BGA
September 15, 2008--Ironwood Electronics has introduced the SS-BGA225G-01, a 10 GHz socket for the ASE 225 LTFBGA. The contactor is a spring pin (pogo) with 16-gram actuation force per ball, and has a cycle life of 500,000 insertions.

Omron shrinks FPC connector
September 11, 2008 -- Omron Corp. is to release its XF3C, a low-profile FPC connector with a pitch of 0.25 mm. According to the company, the connector represents a 20% reduction in footprint compared to its previous FPC connectors.

Tyco Electronics expands line of poke-in lighting connectors
September 10, 2008--Tyco Electronics Corp. has introduced a thru-hole version of its SMT Poke-In connector for the LED lighting market. It joins the existing surface-mount connector and is designed to provide a low-profile solution suited for use in PCB-based LED strings, lighting controls, and other non-lighting applications.
