Advanced Interconnect intros low-profile SMT system
October 13, 2008--Mezza-pede SMT connectors from Advanced Interconnections Corp. are designed for 1-mm pitch micro board-to-board and flex cable-to-board applications. This screw-machined, low profile connector system is suited for high reliability applications, including providing power to a tunable laser, since the connector passes mixed flowing gas (MFG) tests, ensuring continuous performance in the field.

Samtec offers .8-mm pitch terminal/socket interconnect
October 9, 2008--Samtec has expanded its Micro Rugged product line with a .8-mm (.0315") pitch terminal and socket interconnect system featuring proprietary high-rel multi-finger Tiger Eye contacts.

Hermetic mate seals rectangular connectors
October 8, 2008--Souriau's microComp series of high-density, lightweight, space-saving rectangular connectors with PA&E's new hermetic microComp mate can now be deployed in applications that require a hermetic seal.

MIL-DTL 38999 connector accommodates 300 contacts
October 7, 2008--ITT Interconnect Solutions has developed a high density connector with more than double the number of contacts found in standard MILDTL 38999 connectors. Designated the KJA 300 Series, the connector accommodates 300 size 22D contacts in a single package while meeting all MIL-DTL 38999 specifications.

Belkin unveils Category 6A connectivity
October 6, 2008--Belkin's ETL-verified CAT6a cabling solutions are designed to enable 10-Gbit/sec connectivity in the data center and throughout a structured cabling system. The solution links 10GBase-T networking equipment using Belkin CAT6a patch cords, patch panels, keystones, and bulk cabling.

Thermal printer suited for terminal blocks
October 3, 2008--Phoenix Contact's THERMOMARK W2 thermal transfer printer simultaneously prints on both sides of Phoenix Contact endless shrink sleeves. Additionally, new UniCard marking card options make the BLUEMARK printer compatible with a wider range of terminal blocks.

Cabling, connector solution targets wireless networks
October 3, 2008--Andrew, a division of CommScope, Inc., has introduced HELIAX 2.0--a complete cable and connector family for wireless networks designed for new radio frequency (RF) transmission line options. The solution consists of two cable lines, with one connector series that fits either. Both cable types are available as feeders in a complete range of diameters or as cable assemblies.

Blocks for crimped-on terminals
October 2, 2008--Automation Systems Interconnect, Inc.'s ASIST series of terminal blocks accept wires equipped with ring tongue or spade terminals. With a current-carrying bar over 75% bigger than comparable devices and UL 94V0 polyamide housing, these terminal blocks are designed for a variety of applications.

3M intros 2-mm board-to-board stacking devices
October 1, 2008--Expanding its 2-mm board-to-board and wire-to-board solutions, 3M Electronics Solutions Division's 95X Series is designed to offer a lower cost, 10μ" gold solution for high-volume applications having less stringent requirements for the number of mating cycles, no exposure to temperature extremes or hostile atmosphere, and a relatively short service life.

QFN socket designed for high performance
September 30, 2008--Ironwood Electronics has introduced a high-performance QFN socket for 0.5-mm pitch QFN 24-pin ICs. The DG-QFN24C-01 socket is designed for a 4x4-mm package size and operates at bandwidths up to 40 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss.
