Voltaire's 40G InfiniBand switches target data centers
October 27, 2008 -- Voltaire Ltd. has released a line of quad data rate (QDR) 40-Gbit/sec Infiniband switches designed to bring heightened levels of bandwidth and performance to high-performance clustered systems. Additionally, the company says its Grid Director 4000 line of switches features "smart" design elements to meet the needs of next-generation data centers.
Gore unveils 10-Gbit Ethernet assemblies
October 27, 2008--GORE QSFP copper cable assemblies are designed for the high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise network and network storage markets. Ideally suited for InfiniBand, 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 40-GbE applications, these assemblies are designed to improve signal reliability at speeds over the standard InfiniBand QDR data rate of 10 Gbits/sec/channel.
Molex designs sealed hybrid for automotive apps
October 24, 2008--Molex's CMC product line can be used for several modes of transportation vehicles, including cars, trucks, busses and motorcycles as well as marine and agricultural equipment. These wire-to-board, hybrid connectors are designed for power train and body electronics applications, such as engine-control units, gearboxes, electronic-park brakes, junction boxes and suspension controllers.
3M adds Fibrlok splices for fast, on-site analog video installations

October 23, 2008--WAGO Corporation's newest pluggable connector for modular wiring systems, the 890 Series WINSTA MINI, brings PUSH WIRE terminations to modular electrical wiring. The 890 Series consists of 2- and 3-pole variants; a 5-pole variant will launch in 2009.
.25-mm FPC offers secure contact retention
October 22, 2008--Molex's 0.25-mm (.010") pitch FPC connector is designed to save up to 40 percent of space compared to similar 0.30-mm pitch connectors for applications in cell phones and other mobile devices. This new SMT ZIF (zero insertion force) connector, Molex claims, offers the smallest overall size in terms of height, depth and length of any FPC connector in the market today.
