Cirris intros connector pinning assembly aid
November 11, 2008--Pin-Sight, from Cirris Systems, is designed for assuring correct pinning of electrical connectors during wire harness assembly. Its hig-res CCD camera guides the operator by electronically super-imposing, on a video monitor, a target circle around the correct cavity based on an operator-input wire ID via barcode, keyboard or speech.

Samtec adds high-speed connector series
November 11, 2008--Samtec's QEM8/QEF8 connector set combines an integral metal ground plane with a proprietary Edge Rate contact system designed for superior impedance control and reduced broadside coupling and crosstalk for improved signal integrity performance.

Blind-mate design targets mezzanine applications
November 11, 2008--ERNI Electronics has expanded its MicroSpeed family to include a new Blind-mate version for mezzanine card applications. The MicroSpeed connector is a 1.0-mm pitch system using SMT technology for data rates up to 10Gbits/sec.

ERNI offering 10-, 12-pin cable-to-board connector
November 11, 2008--In addition to previously introduced pin numbers of 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8, ERNI Electronics has introduced 10- and 12-pin designs to the single-row 1.27-mm pitch MiniBridge cable-to-board connector system. Applications for compact and flexible board-to-cable connections include sensor, actuator, power supply or data applications in automotive and industrial electronics, computer technology, consumer electronics or medical engineering.

ITT develops 19-way connector
November 11, 2008--ITT Interconnect Solutions has developed the APD19-way (Automotive Product DIN) circular connector, designed for volume products. The circular connector is capable of withstanding harsh and wet-area environments, making it suitable for commercial vehicles and industrial automation applications.

Eraser introduces multi-material cutter
November 10, 2008--Eraser Company's MMC200 multi-material cutter cuts round or flat material up to 3.94 inches wide and 5/8 inches thick. With a maximum cutting force of 600 pounds, the MMC200 is designed to cut a wide range of materials, including copper wire and cable, silver solder, power cords, cellophane, fiberglass sleeving, latex, fabrics, belting, flat and ribbon cable, strapping, hosing and tubing.

Omnetics debuts tiny MIL-quality circular nanos
November 10, 2008--Omnetics Connector Corp. has unveiled the Circular Nano series, which the company claims is one of the smallest circular connector families that uses a MIL-quality contact system. With a total mated length of 9.0 mm and outer diameters ranging from 3.1 to 5.5 mm, the connectors are designed for the harshest of operating environments, including medical, military and aerospace applications.

Push-in contact inserts reduce keying time
November 6, 2008--Push-in contact inserts for Phoenix Contact's Heavycon Series plug connectors are designed to reduce the time required for connecting wires and keying. Flexible wires with ferrules or rigid wires can be connected directly to the push-in contact inserts without tools.

Master Bond intros temperature-resistant epoxy
November 6, 2008--Master Bond Inc. has introduced EP13, a single-component, high-performance epoxy adhesive that requires no mixing and has an unlimited working life at room temperature. The company says EP13 has excellent bond strength to similar and dissimilar substrates and strong dimensional stability. Service operating temperature range is -60° to 450°F.

Schleuniger intros semi-automatic stripper/crimper
November 5, 2008--The TransferModule 1500 from Schleuniger is a semi-automatic stripping/crimping platform for linking production processes that require one or two linear movements. Complex processing steps can be automated where precise repetition is critical, says the company, improving quality and reducing labor at a fraction of the cost of a fully automatic system.
