June 20, 2008 -- Jerome Sistrunk, director of quality assurance for Amphenol Fiber Systems International (AFSI), announced that AFSI has been approved for AS9100 certification. AS9100 incorporates the entirety of ISO 9001:2000 while adding additional stringent quality, aerospace and safety requirements.
AFSI specializes in multi-channel fiber-optic connectors and cable assemblies, designed for harsh environments and suitable for applications including aerospace, military, broadcast, mining, oil exploration and extraction, as well as other commercial and industrial uses.
Dekra Vincotte Certification USA, Inc. conducted the on-site survey portion of the certification process in May 2008. This third party process ensures that AFSI's documented processes meet the level required for AS9100 certification.
AFSI says its stringent quality system, now AS9100, ISO 9001:2000 and MIL-STD-790 certified, ensures the highest levels of workmanship and performance available in every connector and cable assembly built.
