Omnetics adds thumbscrew option to Bi-lobe assembly

May 15, 2008 -- Omnetics' nano-miniature, 0.025" (0.635 mm) pitch Bi-lobe connector family is now optionally available with a thumbscrew attach and release mechanism instead of jackscrews, providing a quick, durable assembly mechanism that can be deployed without the need for tools.

Standard Bi-lobe connectors are available in 9-65 way, dual or single row configurations, housed in a robust metal shell and polarized to prevent mis-mating. Omnetics says the Bi-lobe connectors ensure signal integrity even in conditions where high shock and vibration are experienced, satisfying the requirements of MIL-STD-32139, which specifies that for 100G shock and 20G vibration discontinuities must be less than 10 nanoseconds.

."By providing the option of choosing a thumb-screw, we are simplifying the assembly process without compromising on performance," comments Greg Jones, Omnetics' sales manager for North America "We expect designers of military equipment, especially, to benefit from this new development."
