May 7, 2008 -- After a strong debut last year, EDS once again held its "eXtreme Networking" event at this year's show in Las Vegas.
"Those who attended eXtreme Networking last year were very pleased with the results and asked that we repeat it this year," commented Adam J. Glazer, EDS director of special services. "Hosting events that help participants expand their contacts and grow their business is what EDS is all about."
EDS says the networking event enables channel partner participants to meet new people who fit their "relevance" profiles, say trade show representatives. Prior to the event, attendees paid a $100 deposit (refunded upon check-in) and created profiles via an online questionairre.
The hour-long event then featured pre-arranged, targeted four minute introductions for each attendee, followed by a larger, all-industry networking gathering, where refreshments were served.
David Vest, sales manager, Sharma Electro Components, offered, "I was skeptical about eXtreme Networking last year. But I had some surprising results, including signing two regional sales reps and adding some active distributor contacts in areas that I needed coverage. My expectations were easily surpassed."
EDS is billed as North America's premier venue for B2B meetings and exhibitions for the electronics distribution industry. Key representatives from the three major areas of the industry (distribution, manufacturing and professional field sales) attend the show.
