Connector Specifier Online Article | | |
March 13, 2008 -- Mouser Electronics, Inc. announced that it is now stocking the Johnson line of SMP blind-mate connectors from Emerson Network Power Connectivity Solutions. The connectors are designed to correct axial and radial misalignment and are compatible with all SMP and GPO connectors.
The SMP blind-mate connectors can handle frequencies up to 40GHz and are available in several different configurations to meet the needs of high-frequency applications. The offering includes full and limited detent snap-on interfaces, as well as smooth bore and catcher's mitt slide-on interfaces which provide different levels of engage and disengage coupling force.
The full detent snap-on interface is typically used for cabled connections where a tighter lock is required and the limited detent is used in PCB mounts or blind-mate applications. The two slide-on interfaces allow for axial misalignment and both have the same engage/disengage force. The design of the catcher's mitt interface facilitates a more exact connection and is typically specified for blind-mate applications.
To achieve optimum performance, the product line includes 26 different connectors and adapters, as well as nine new assembly tools. Detailed assembly instructions are available and industry standard tooling is used to ensure optimum performance. "Both the design engineering community and our suppliers rely on Mouser to supply the newest products available to the marketplace," says Barry McConnell, Mouser's vice president of product marketing. "By stocking new products like these from Johnson, Mouser is able to fulfill its commitment to both suppliers and design engineers alike."
